Recently, Debbie Rice and Telisa Miller visited Presque Isle Academy to share a little about their lives.  Rice is a Guinness World Record Holder- The Fastest Woman on Skates, clocked at 61mph. Both women have illustrious careers as in-line skaters and are national speed skating champions! For fun, they compete in skating Marathon races and compete as professional rollerderby players where they are better known as Barbie Bont and Twisted T.  Miller a blocker and Rice a jammer,  both starred in the television series RollerJam.

For Rice, skating led to a career working for Bont Skates.  Miller is employed as the Vice President of PNC Banks. But, they spend all their free time skating and stressed to the students the importance of pursuing your passion.  “Don’t think you can’t go out there and do what makes you happy because you have the opportunity to choose what you want to do” said Miller.  The two skaters were accompanied by Debbie’s Father, Ron Rice who still has ties to the area.  He was stopping by to visit his brother Donavon, who lives in Onaway.  The trio were just returning from Duluth, MN where they competed in the 17th annual Northshore Inline Marathon.
